چکیده

Far-End crosstalk is a common problem in a printed circuit boards when two transmission lines are in close proximity. This paper proposes a newly designed method to reduce the far-end crosstalk using metamaterials as a complementary split ring resonator (CSRRs). The CSRRs are etched in the ground plane and are used to control the radiated electromagnetic fileds. Comparative analyses are taken for three cases with solid ground plane etching one CSRR and 2 CSRRs in the ground plane. Analysis shows that a significant reduction in the crosstalk is achieved when 2 CSRRs are etched in the ground plane. This design is made to reduce the crosstalk without additional components. Signal Integrity Analysis of High Speed Interconnects In PCB Embedded with EBG Structures

This paper brings out a novel method for reducing Near end and Far end Crosstalk using Electromagnetic Band Gap structures (EBG) in High Speed RF transmission lines. This work becomes useful in high speed closely spaced Printed Circuit Board (PCB) traces connected to multi core processors. By using this method, reduction of -40dB in Near-End Crosstalk (NEXT) and -60 dB in Far End Crosstalk (FEX...

Crosstalk Mitigation and Impedance Management Using Tabbed Lines

As the demand for low-cost electronic systems increases, increasing wiring density/reducing printed circuit board (PCB) layer count becomes inevitable. This reality limits the PCB routing layer options of high-speed input/output (I/O) signals, making it more difficult to meet the next-generation product’s performance targets. For example, using densely wired microstrip routing on a PCB helps re...

Crosstalk on Printed Circuit Boards

This document treats the crosstalk between parallel conductors. The conductors can represent either conductors in a multiconductor cable or traces on a printed circuit board (PCB). An analysis method based on a lumped circuit equivalent for the problem as well as a method to calculate the per unit length parameters are presented. The computed results are validated by comparison with measurement...

Suppression of Crosstalk Using Serpentine Guard Trace Vias

The reliability of circuits on printed circuit boards (PCBs) in many modern electronic products is affected by severe noise caused by high-speed and low-voltage operation as well as layout constraints compounded by limited space and high circuit density. Crosstalk is a major noise source that interferes with the signal integrity (SI) in poor PCB layout designs. One common method of reducing cro...

Recycling of Printed Circuit Boards

Printed circuit boards (PCBs) can be found in any piece of electrical or electronic equipment: nearly all electronic items, including calculators and remote control units, contain large circuit boards; an increasing number of white goods, as washing machines contains circuit boards for example in electronic timers. PCBs contain metals, polymers, ceramics and are manufactured by sophisticated te...
